Senate Resolution No. 1309
 
BY: Senator STEWART-COUSINS
 
        COMMEMORATING   the   50th   Anniversary   of  the
        Pleasantville Children's Center to be celebrated  on
        June 1, 2023
 
  WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize   and  acknowledge  those  within  our  midst  who  have  made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
 
  WHEREAS, From time to time  this  Legislative  Body  takes  note  of
certain   extraordinary  individuals  and  organizations  it  wishes  to
recognize for their valued contributions to the success and progress  of
society and publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the
basic humanity among us all; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body is justly proud to commemorate the
50th Anniversary of the Pleasantville Children's Center to be celebrated
on Thursday, June 1, 2023; and
 
  WHEREAS, Founded in 1972 by a group of mothers together at  Reader's
Digest and looking for a truly special place for their children to learn
and  grow,  Pleasantville  Children's  Center  has  provided a nurturing
environment for the Mount Pleasant, New York community for five decades;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  valuable  part  of  the   Mount   Pleasant   community,
Pleasantville  Children's  Center  is  dedicated  to  encouraging  early
childhood  growth  through  a  developmentally  appropriate   curriculum
emphasizing  self-expression,  discovery,  and  problem solving with the
goal of fostering a life-long enjoyment of learning; and
 
  WHEREAS, Pleasantville Children's Center is run by a dedicated Board
of Directors comprised of parent volunteers; parents take an active role
in planning and hosting several school and class-wide  events,  parties,
and fundraisers throughout the year; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Since its inception 50 years ago, Pleasantville Children's
Center has been focused on the families and community it serves;  during
the  school  year,  events such as the annual Fall and Spring Picnics at
the Park, Pancake and Pajama Party, Cocktail  Party/Silent  Auction  and
Library  Art  Show,  and  visits from firefighters, police officers, and
dentists put the children and families in touch with one another outside
the school environment; and
 
  WHEREAS, The success of the Pleasantville Children's  Center  is  in
direct  correlation  to the efforts of its volunteer Board of Directors,
made up of dedicated parents, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm,  and
an  uncompromising  standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and
 
  WHEREAS, It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
 
brought  to  our  attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Pleasantville Children's  Center
to be celebrated on June 1, 2023; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Pleasantville Children's Center.
