COMMEMORATING the 6th Anniversary of Dominicans on
the Hill
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay just tribute to the events which support the cultural heritage of
the ethnic groups which comprise and contribute to the richness and
diversity of the State of New York and the entirety of the Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 6th Anniversary of Dominicans on the Hill on Wednesday,
February 7, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Dominicans on the Hill is an event held every year during
Dominican Heritage Month which brings Dominican leadership to the
Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., serving to enhance the visibility
and influence of the Dominican community in the United States; and
WHEREAS, The event was created to further highlight the growing
civic engagement of the Dominican American community; and
WHEREAS, The goal of this purposeful event is to strengthen
community ties and the promotion of cultural heritage, fostering a
greater understanding and appreciation of the Dominican community's role
in American society; and
WHEREAS, Efforts to improve economic development, health, education,
affordable housing, support for immigrant rights, and promotion of
diversity are areas of focus for the esteemed Dominicans on the Hill
event; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity
to recognize such events of significance which foster ethnic pride and
exemplify the cultural diversity that represents and strengthens the
fabric of the people and the State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 6th Anniversary of Dominicans on the Hill; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the organizers of Dominicans on the Hill.
