CONGRATULATING Fiona J. Andrew upon the occasion
of receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award, Cadette
Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second
highest achievement
WHEREAS, Fiona J. Andrew was honored with the Girl Scout Silver
Award, Cadette Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second
highest achievement; the ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 5,
2019, at the Farmingdale High School, Farmingdale, New York; and
WHEREAS, Fiona J. Andrew is a member of the Hardscrabble Association
of Girl Scouts, Troop 3191; and
WHEREAS, An eighth grader at Howitt Middle School, Fiona J. Andrew
is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and both the swimming
and volleyball teams, and was chosen by the Nassau Music Educators
Association to play her French horn in the All-County Band Concert; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people
the goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of
working with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride,
and encouraging community service and success; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and
WHEREAS, Fiona J. Andrew completed a Silver Award community service
project which she planned, developed and executed; her project was
entitled, "Enhance Information for Farmingdale Aquatics Swimmers and
Parents"; and
WHEREAS, For her project, Fiona J. Andrew and fellow Scout, Mariah
Cepeda, worked with Farmingdale Aquatics Swimmers to develop a strength
club which is conducted by the junior and senior swimmers before and/or
after practice; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Fiona J. Andrew and her partner created a
"What to Bring to a Swim Meet" video for the Farmingdale Aquatics
Swimmers; the video explains all the necessities needed and recommended
for a swim meet, and can be found on the team's website; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over a two-year period; it is
tangible evidence of Fiona J. Andrew's high character and commitment,
and is a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York
State and our Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Fiona J. Andrew, recognizing her achievement in earning the
Girl Scout Silver Award, and to wish her continued success in all her
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Fiona J. Andrew.
