CONGRATULATING the Glen Cove High School Wind
Ensemble upon the occasion of winning superior
rating, 1st place and best overall band at Music in
the Parks, and the Gold Medal at the NYSSMA Major
Ensemble Festival Competition Level 5
WHEREAS, Music competition provides an opportunity for students to
exhibit their practical skills to an audience, thereby giving them a
sense of pride in their hard work and efforts; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish themselves
through excellence in musical competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Glen Cove High School Wind Ensemble upon the occasion
of winning superior rating, 1st place and best overall band at Music in
the Parks, and the Gold Medal at the NYSSMA Major Ensemble Festival
Competition Level 5; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Glen Cove High School Wind Ensemble
include: Flute/Piccolo: Emily Budraitis, Leanna Farley, Sonia Flores,
Caitriona Greene, Glory Mayreis, and Nicolle Rojo Bravo; Clarinet:
Yanira Acosta Yanes, Christina Cavallone, Andrew Costella, Megan Fahey,
Brianna Guillen, Jackelyn Mejia, Gregory Villafane, and Julie Yamond,;
Bass Clarinet: Jennifer Heman; Alto Sax: Michael Corwin, Michele
D'Ambrosio, Nicole Valensisi, Natalie Velasquez, Abigail Weiser, and
Christopher Williams; Tenor Sax: Elijah James; Baritone Sax: Margaret
Lynch, and William Merkel; Trumpet: Jaynise Espinal, Dara Levy, Aliyah
Stone, and Miranda Weiser; French Horn: Jennifer LaRocca; Trombone:
Steven Bailey, Ryan Basil, Kieran Calderon Pastran, Carlos Freeman,
Szymon Frye, and Piero Salamanca; Baritone: Kevin Rodriguez; Tuba:
Anthony Aguilar; Percussion: Alex Beckhard-Suozzi, Liam Dall, Octavio
Echegaray, Jesse Mayreis, Frank Melfi, Melissa Patino, and Allan
Salamanca; and Mallet Percussion: Sergio San Martin; and
WHEREAS, Talent, dedication, and countless hours of practice have
made the Wind Ensemble of Glen Cove High School the outstanding ensemble
it is today; and
WHEREAS, The members work hard at their music rehearsals, classroom
assignments and practice sessions, fully aware that the amount of time
and energy they are willing to expend directly affects the quality of
their music; and
WHEREAS, The Glen Cove High School Wind Ensemble members, along with
their teacher, Ms. Brittney Frank Rifkind, as well as their parents, can
be justifiably proud of their musical achievements; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Glen Cove High School Wind Ensemble upon the occasion
of winning superior rating, 1st place and best overall band at Music in
the Parks, and the Gold Medal at the NYSSMA Major Ensemble Festival
Competition Level 5; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ms. Brittney Frank Rifkind and each member of the Glen
Cove High School Wind Ensemble.
