Senate Resolution No. 2229

        HONORING  Tracie  Killar  upon the occasion of her
        designation  as  recipient  of  the  Vaughan  Family
        Changemaker  Award  by the Albany Fund for Education
        on October 25, 2019
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the  communities  across  New  York
State  are  reflective  of  the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the  community
and its citizenry; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Tracie Killar upon the occasion of her designation as recipient  of  the
Vaughan Family Changemaker Award by the Albany Fund for Education, to be
celebrated  at  its  22nd  Annual  Gala  on Friday, October 25, 2019, at
Renaissance Albany Hotel in Albany, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, The Albany Fund for  Education  (AFE)  strives  to  enhance
opportunities  for  students  to  learn,  grow,  and succeed by building
community partnerships, raising funds, and investing in  innovative  and
effective  programs  and  projects  that build equity and strengthen the
educational infrastructure of the City School District of Albany; and
 
  WHEREAS, This remarkable woman is receiving this  prestigious  award
for her steadfast and unremitting commitment to her community; and
 
  WHEREAS, Tracie Killar serves as the Executive Director of the South
End  Children's Cafe, which provides a safe space where students receive
sustenance, learn about personal and civic responsibility,  engage  with
mentors, and break bread with their friends and families; and
 
  WHEREAS, Tracie Killar and her team have diligently worked to uplift
students  of  the  City  School District of Albany and have helped raise
awareness of how food insecurity impacts their community; through  their
tireless  efforts,  the  South  End  Children's Cafe allows children and
families to access healthy food and academic  support  in  a  dignified,
caring environment; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown  a
long  and  sustained  commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor Tracie Killar upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Vaughan Family Changemaker Award by the Albany Fund for Education on
October 25, 2019; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Tracie Killar.
