Senate Resolution No. 2378
 
BY: Senator PARKER
 
        MOURNING   the  death  of  Theodore  James  Moore,
        distinguished citizen  and  devoted  member  of  his
        community
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens  of  the  State  of  New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Theodore Moore of New York, New York,  died  on  April  28,
2024, at the age of 78; and
 
  WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Teddy," Theodore Moore was born on
March  14, 1946, in New York City; he was the eldest of six siblings and
grew up in a home devoted to Christian faith; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Active  in  his  community,  Theodore  Moore  was  heavily
involved at Charity Neighborhood Baptist Church in Brooklyn; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Graduating  from  Alexander Hamilton High School, Theodore
Moore was drafted to serve the Nation in  the  United  States  Army;  he
completed his basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina
before he was deployed to Vietnam; and
 
  WHEREAS,  For  his  brave  and  heroic  actions,  Theodore Moore was
awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal,  and
the Vietnam Service Medal; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Upon  returning  home,  Theodore  Moore started working at
Morgan Guaranty Trust Co and  Joe  Green  Typewriter  Repair;  he  later
worked  for  Eastern  Airline  until  1991,  before serving the New York
Police Department as a Senior Office Appliance Maintainer for 33  years,
until he retired on November 30, 2023; and
 
  WHEREAS,  An  individual  with  many  passions, Theodore Moore loved
traveling,  listening  to  jazz  music,  watching  track  &  field,  and
attending sporting events with family and friends; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Theodore Moore distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
 
  WHEREAS, Theodore Moore's commitment to excellence, and  his  spirit
of  humanity,  carried  over  into  all  fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Theodore  Moore  is  survived  by  his   wife,   Christine
Sanders-Moore;   son,  Theodore  "Tee"  Moore;  daughter,  Traci  Moore;
grandson, Robert Moore; and goddaughter, Qiana Thompson; in addition, he
leaves nieces and nephews Simone, James, Jeanna, Jamel, Damon,  Tamecka,
Keith,  Patricia,  Rebecca,  Bryon,  Michelle,  and Gregory and numerous
close friends and extended family; and
 
  WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a  sense  of
compassion, Theodore Moore leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the  passage  of  time  and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of  Theodore  James  Moore,  distinguished  citizen  and
devoted member of his community; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Theodore James Moore.
