Senate Resolution No. 2601

        HONORING  Margaret  "Peggi"  Einhorn  posthumously
        upon the occasion of  her  designation  for  special
        recognition  by  the  Brooklyn  Children's Museum on
        June 6, 2024
 
  WHEREAS, The unity of  our  State  and  Nation  is  built  upon  the
compassion  of  individuals, such as Margaret "Peggi" Einhorn who upheld
the values of community life  and  who,  through  their  great  actions,
epitomized the best of humanity; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  is justly proud to honor Margaret
"Peggi" Einhorn posthumously upon the occasion of  her  designation  for
special recognition by the Brooklyn Children's Museum (BCM), celebrating
her  remarkable  33-year  legacy  as a BCM Trustee at its Spring Gala on
Thursday, June 6, 2024; and
 
  WHEREAS, Founded in 1899 as the  world's  first  children's  museum,
Brooklyn   Children's   Museum  is  New  York  City's  largest  cultural
institution designed especially for families; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Proudly  based  in  Crown  Heights,   Brooklyn,   Brooklyn
Children's  Museum  serves 300,000 children and caregivers annually with
exhibits and programs grounded in visual arts,  music  and  performance,
natural science, and world cultures; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Brooklyn  Children's  Museum  holds  to  the principles of
interdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning,  encouraging  children  to
explore their world from multiple perspectives; sensory learning through
hands-on,  physical  experiences; appreciation of culture and community,
with   a   focus   on   socio-emotional   learning   and   interpersonal
relationships; stimulation of parent-child dialogue and the provision of
family resources, and the empowerment of children to think of themselves
as  agents  of  community  change  and  inspire  responsible  and  civic
engagement; and
 
  WHEREAS, As a  cherished  member  of  the  board,  Margaret  "Peggi"
Einhorn upheld these principles with grade and dedication throughout her
33-year  tenure;  it is her legacy that helped shape BCM's direction and
growth, and it is with deep pride  and  admiration  that  we  honor  her
today; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Rare  indeed  is  the  impressive  dedication  shown by an
individual for the benefit of  others  which  Margaret  "Peggi"  Einhorn
displayed throughout her life; and
 
  WHEREAS,   Margaret  "Peggi"  Einhorn's  infinite  selflessness  and
benevolence will shine on through her family's vivid and happy memories;
her insight and strength will forever serve as a beacon of  love,  light
and hope to the countless lives she touched; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Margaret "Peggi" Einhorn leaves behind a legacy  which  will
long  endure  the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory
 
to all who were privileged to have  known  and  loved  such  an  amazing
woman;  she  will be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute
of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Margaret "Peggi" Einhorn posthumously upon  the  occasion  of  her
designation for special recognition by the Brooklyn Children's Museum on
June 6, 2024; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Margaret "Peggi" Einhorn.
