Senate Resolution No. 1947

        MOURNING  the death of Steven DiMeo, Mohawk Valley
        EDGE President, distinguished citizen,  and  devoted
        member of his community
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens  of  the  State  of  New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life  in  their  communities  and  this
great Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS, Steven DiMeo of Rome, New York, died on Wednesday, March 6,
2024, at the age of 69; and
 
  WHEREAS, Steven DiMeo distinguished himself in his profession and by
his  sincere  dedication  and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
 
  WHEREAS, He was renowned as the guiding force behind EDGE, the Marcy
Nanocenter, Griffiss  Business  and  Technology  Park,  and  the  entire
region's economic trajectory for the past 30 years; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Steven  DiMeo  worked tirelessly to enhance Oneida County,
advocating to save Griffiss Air Force Base and bring a chip  fabrication
to the Marcy Nanocenter; and
 
  WHEREAS, Prior to serving as president of EDGE, Steven DiMeo was the
commissioner of urban and economic development for Utica from 1984-1993;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Always  bringing  a  sense of levity and brightness to his
workplace and social circles, Steven DiMeo  was  happy  to  discuss  all
things  regarding  the  New  York  Yankees  or  offer  up facts from his
extensive knowledge of American history; and
 
  WHEREAS, Steven DiMeo's commitment to excellence, and his spirit  of
humanity,   carried  over  into  all  fields  of  enterprise,  including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
 
  WHEREAS, Steven DiMeo is survived by his wife, Dianne; his children,
Jonathan DiMeo and Allison Peters; as well  as  his  grandchildren,  his
friends, and colleagues; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Steven DiMeo leaves behind a legacy which will  long  endure
the  passage  of  time  and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
mourn   the  death  of  Steven  DiMeo,  Mohawk  Valley  EDGE  President,
distinguished citizen, and devoted member of his community;  and  be  it
further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Steven DiMeo.
