          printed to be committed to the Committee on Judiciary
 
                    CONCURRENT RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY
 
        proposing an amendment to section 6 of article 2 of the constitution, in
          relation to the personal appearance requirement for voter registration
 
     1    Section 1. Resolved (if the Assembly concur), That section 6 of  arti-
     2  cle 2 of the constitution be amended to read as follows:
     3    §  6.  The  legislature  may provide by law for a system or systems of
     4  registration whereby [upon personal application] a voter may  be  regis-
     5  tered  and  his or her registration continued so long as he or she shall
     6  remain qualified to vote from an address within the jurisdiction of  the
     7  board with which such voter is registered.
     8    §  2.  Resolved (if the Assembly concur), That the foregoing amendment
     9  be referred to the first regular legislative session convening after the
    10  next succeeding general election of members of  the  assembly,  and,  in
    11  conformity  with  section  1  of  article  19  of  the  constitution, be
    12  published for three months previous to the time of such election.
