        Introduced  by  Sen.  ALESI  -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern-
          ment Operations
 
        AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to providing a personal  income
          tax credit for the donation of blood
 

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 606 of the tax law  is  amended  by  adding  a  new
     2  subsection (qq) to read as follows:
     3    (qq)  Blood donation tax credit.  A resident taxpayer shall be allowed
     4  a credit of fifty dollars up to a maximum of  two  hundred  dollars  for
     5  donating  blood  to  a  qualified  agency.  For  the  purposes  of  this
     6  subsection, the term "qualifying  agency"  shall  include,  but  not  be
     7  limited to, the American Red Cross or other blood banks.
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall apply to taxable
     9  years  beginning  on  and after the first of January next succeeding the
    10  date on which it shall have become a law.
