        Introduced  by  Sen.  SERINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation
 
        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to  prohibiting
          sex offenders from being bus drivers
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 1 of  section  509-cc  of  the
     2  vehicle  and traffic law is amended by adding a new subparagraph (iv) to
     3  read as follows:
     4    (iv) has been convicted of any offense for which registration as a sex
     5  offender is required pursuant to article six-C of  the  correction  law,
     6  notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary; or
     7    § 2. Subdivision 2 of section 509-cc of the vehicle and traffic law is
     8  amended by adding a new paragraph (b-1) to read as follows:
     9    (b-1)  permanently,  if  that person has been convicted of any offense
    10  for which registration as a sex offender is required pursuant to article
    11  six-C of the correction law, notwithstanding any provision of law to the
    12  contrary.
    13    § 3. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after
    14  it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the  commissioner  of
    15  motor  vehicles  may add, amend, or repeal any rule or regulation neces-
    16  sary to timely implement the provisions of this  act  on  its  effective
    17  date.
