BROWN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Election Law AN ACT AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to requiring the state board of elections to conduct a background check on all candi- dates which appear on a ballot The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 3-102 of the election law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 19 to read as follows: 3 19. perform a background check on each candidate which will appear on 4 a ballot in an election no later than thirty days prior to such 5 election. 6 § 2.
