North Country and Mohawk Valley Set to Reopen

On May 13, the governor announced that the North Country, the Mohawk Valley and two other regions are ready to reopen on May 15. These regions will be allowed to begin Phase 1 of the reopening process.

“The people of New York have displayed true strength and resilience during these extremely difficult times. The North Country and Mohawk Valley have met the metrics set to begin the process of reopening. I look forward to continuing to work with our local businesses, farmers and health care officials as our region takes action to move forward,” said Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River). “However, due to the lower impact this pandemic has had on these regions, I believe we should responsibly move forward to Phase 2 of the governor’s reopening plan. COVID-19 has a disproportionately smaller effect on our area, and we can take safe steps to advance to Phase 2 while ensuring the best interests of our public health.”
