Give Our High School Seniors a Graduation Ceremony

Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River) joined the Assembly Minority Conference in writing a letter to the governor requesting authorization for schools to hold graduation ceremonies for high-school seniors.

“Our seniors have faced an unconventional journey as they’ve finished up their high-school education. Abruptly, they left their classrooms and school hallways, not knowing when or if they would ever return. They had to adjust to their new reality: online learning, missing out on senior activities and more,” said Blankenbush. “We can safely and responsibly give these hardworking students their graduation ceremony. After missing out on so much the past few months and facing unprecedented challenges, they have a right to celebrate their accomplishments together. Even if schools hold ceremonies over the summer, our high-school seniors should have a graduation ceremony. After all they’ve overcome the past few months, it’s the very least we can do for them.”
