Assemblyman David Weprin Statement on Proposed Congestion Pricing MOU

Albany, New York – Assemblyman David Weprin issued the following statement on the Proposed Congestion Pricing MOU:

“I am happy to see that the Governor’s and Mayor’s new agreement for funding the MTA includes two additional new revenue streams but still oppose the imposition of congestion pricing as it eliminates a 100 year plus alternative for middle class drivers and small business to get into Manhattan without paying a fee.

With this new plan, the State cedes all future toll setting authority to an unelected commission, the TBTA, which I also oppose. As such, I cannot support a plan that asks New Yorkers to hand over an even larger percentage of their paychecks to the MTA and plan to continue to oppose this rehashed congestion pricing proposal.”
