WHAT: Recently, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman filed a petition with the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) to stop Verizon from installing Voice Link wireless phone service in Sullivan County and the Catskill region. The installation of Voice Link was approved on parts of Fire Island badly damaged by Super Storm Sandy. However, the PSC would not approve a wider installation until further review was conducted.

The installation of Voice Link service in Sullivan County is problematic, at best. Issues of reliability and accessibility to emergency services have caused concern over public safety.
