Beephan Rallies for Backpedal on Hochul High-Rise Plan
Assemblyman Anil Beephan, Jr. (R,C-East Fishkill) joined his fellow Assembly Minority colleagues today in a rebuke of Gov. Kathy Hochul’s high-rise plan, a proposal that seeks to force urban building in traditional and established suburban communities, with no ability for local governments to stop it. Beephan is distressed about the precedent this significant overreach will cause.
“Despite a flurry of negative feedback, the governor has yet to adjust her stance on her high-rise plan. Her promise to supersede local authority m is a dangerous precedent for any executive office to set and is blatantly unconstitutional,” Beephan said.
“Overcrowded schools, further traffic and overworked sewage systems are just a few of the problems I know local communities will be facing if this plan moves forward. We will remain vigilant and oppose any further impact on the Hudson Valley,” Beephan concluded.
