“Our state is in a position where, with federal support or without, we need to manage this migrant crisis exacerbated by New York City. My colleagues have offered several compelling solutions to ensure safety is maintained, from running background checks alongside the asylum process to ensuring humanitarian aid oversight is established. These are but a few of the small but meaningful measures that will go a long way to ensuring counties and towns throughout the Hudson Valley aren’t left unprotected as they manage the influx of people arriving, and I’m proud to support these measures as we continue to manage this crisis.”
