Statement From Assemblyman Ari Brown Regarding Vandalism at New York Minority State Committee Albany Headquarters
As a Jew, and as the son and grandson of Holocaust survivors, and as a proud American, I am deeply outraged and disgusted by the swastika and threatening note left on the door of the New York Minority State Committee building in Albany.
The swastika is not just graffiti—it is a vile symbol of hatred and genocide. To weaponize it in today’s political discourse is repugnant and reprehensible. The note left with it, stating, “If this is not what you stand for, prove it,” is a cowardly and dishonest attempt to malign the Minority legislators and, by extension, the pro-Israel, pro-Jewish agenda championed by President Donald Trump—whom I proudly call the greatest friend Israel and the Jewish people have had in the White House.
As the first and only Yarmulke-wearing Minority elected to state office in New York’s history, I see through this despicable act. This was not an attack rooted in principle—it was a targeted assault on our values and on the movement that stands firmly with Israel, fights against antisemitism and defends individual liberty.
Let’s be clear: those who deface buildings with Nazi imagery while accusing Minority legislators of fascism are engaging in projection. It is the radical left that increasingly embraces censorship, mob tactics and identity-based division—the hallmarks of authoritarianism.
We will not be intimidated. We will not be silenced. And we will never stop fighting for truth, for freedom and for the Jewish people and our American values here in New York and around the world.
