Assemblyman Billy Jones: Great to Finally Have an Adirondack Road Salt Reduction Task Force

Governor Hochul announced today that she approved the appointments for the Adirondack road salt reduction task force. This task force is a result of a bill introduced by Assemblyman Billy Jones (D- Chateaugay Lake) that was signed by the Governor early this year. The goal of the task force is to review and assess the use of road salt in the Adirondack Park due to environmental concerns.

“Road salt has caused irrevocable damage to our environment and waterways, contaminating drinking water supply for homeowners for far too long,” Jones said. “It is great news that the Governor has approved the appointments to the Adirondack road salt reduction task force so that the state can implement a pilot plan and test program. Everyone has the right to clean water and that is why I am proud to have authored the bill that created this task force.
