“I join the nation in remembering the anniversary of history’s most brazen threat on our countries democracy. This attack is exhibition A in a case that has and continues to loom over our nation. One symptom of a larger issue of apathy, and disaffection. Diminished trust in our systems, and the attending explanations – the Qanons and elders of Zion paranoia and witch hunts. As we look back on this dark day, let us not only acknowledge the ugliness that etches the date – but commit ourselves wholeheartedly to the sacred ideas that were threatened on that day – freedom, democracy, peaceful transfer of power – that we may continue to fight for them with vigor and full conviction for perpetuity.”
