Assemblyman Curran Blasts Hochul’s SUNY/CUNY Tuition Hike Proposal

Today, Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st A.D) blasted Gov. Hochul’s plan to raise tuition for SUNY and CUNY students. Gov. Hochul has said her plan includes a 3% increase in SUNY and CUNY tuition with a 6% increase every year for the next 5 years.
“I am completely against any tuition hike for SUNY or CUNY students. So many families are already struggling, and many cannot afford any sort of increase in tuition payments. These increases defeat the purpose of the SUNY and CUNY system, which is to provide affordable higher education to residents of New York. To make matters even worse, New York City Mayor Adams is now suggesting we give migrants free college, all the while forcing the citizens of New York to pay more. This is unacceptable,” said Curran.
