Maher’s First Bill Passes Ensuring Better Security at The Town of Montgomery Court
Assemblyman Brian Maher’s (R,C-Walden) bill granting peace officer status to employees of the Town of Montgomery Court was passed in the New York State Assembly on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. The bill would give the authority of peace officers to these employees, therefore, enabling them to better secure the court.
“In a time where safety and security are all the more important in all spaces of society, it’s especially important we ensure our courts are orderly and safe. I am glad to have worked closely with the Town of Montgomery to see this legislation passed,” said Maher.
“Thank you to Assemblyman Maher for helping to push this legislation forward, as it has now passed in the assembly. This bill to create court officers for the town of Montgomery Justice Court will help us to keep the court as well as those visiting the court and Town hall safe,” said Chief John Hank, Town of Montgomery Police Department.
