Friend: A Troubling New Effort to Reward Criminal Behavior Would Allow Prisoners to Vote

New Senate Majority bill introduced to give voting privileges to prisoners

Statement from Assemblyman Christopher R. Friend (R,C,I-Big Flats)

“With extremist downstate politicians at the helm in New York, they have done everything to remove consequences for breaking the law. This new bill proposing to allow prisoners to register to vote is just another one of the absurd policies put out there to coddle those who break the law. They removed cash-bail and pre-trial detention, making our communities less safe, and gave free electronic tablets to inmates. The governor tried to increase the minimum wage of prisoners and there were pushes for free taxpayer-funded college tuition. It’s all really getting out of hand. Every law-abiding New Yorker should be furious.”
