Assemblyman Dan Stec (R,C,I-Queensbury) and Sen. Betty Little (R,C,IP) welcomed Joseph Girard III, a standout basketball star from Glens Falls High school to both the Assembly and Senate Chambers this week. Girard broke a New York state all-time boys’ basketball scoring record this season becoming the first and only athlete to score 3,000 points. Girard was joined in Albany by his grandmother Nancy Girard, his father Joe Girard Jr., and his mother Arleen Girard.
“Joseph is a tremendous athlete whose resume speaks for itself,” said Stec. “He now holds the all-time boys’ basketball scoring record in New York and is the first and only member of the 3,000 point club. It was truly an honor to welcome and honor him here in Albany. I wish Joseph the best of luck next year, and look forward watching him to continue to grow as an athlete and student.”
“Joseph Girard is not only an outstanding basketball player, he’s also a great young man,” said Senator Betty Little. “You don’t achieve the scoring record without a tremendous work ethic and he’s an inspiration and role model for many other athletes. I’ve known his family many years and I am very happy his parents and grandmother could be here in Albany to join in his well-deserved recognition.”
