Stec Joins Calls to Release Chips Funding to Municipalities
Assemblyman Dan Stec (R,C,I-Queensbury) joined the Assembly Minority Conference last week in sending a letter to Gov. Cuomo requesting the state Department of Transportation release Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) funding to municipalities. Stec and the Minority Conference have always been strong advocates of CHIPS funding and noted that the program plays a crucial role in rural highway upgrade and improvement projects.
I am hoping that the governor and Department of Transportation begin to allocate CHIPS funding to our local highway departments and municipalities in the coming weeks, said Stec. A lot of highway departments across rural Upstate New York rely on this funding to get their projects completed. Most road improvement projects have been on hold for months now, as we continue to make great strides in the battle against COVID-19. I think its important that this funding is distributed so that projects can resume.
