McDonough on Conclusion of 2021 Legislative Session
A statement from the desk of Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick)
“The 2021 Legislative Session has come to a close and, sadly, Albany has little to show for the past six months of work. Instead of passing legislation to help New Yorkers and small businesses that have suffered endlessly during the pandemic, Assembly Majority lawmakers added $5 billion in new taxes and pushed through illogical and sometimes dangerous legislation as political statements. Their priorities could not be more out of sync with the everyday New Yorker.”
“It’s time we stop fighting for criminals and illegal immigrants and get back to fundamentals like cutting taxes, working to improve our business climate and rebuilding our infrastructure, which helps create jobs. I’m deeply troubled by the lack of progress in our state, and I fear for future generations who live here. As always, I will continue fighting for the citizens of New York and help stem the unprecedented out-migration resulting from insurmountable tax rates, dangerous legislation and a government that has prioritized criminals and illegal immigrants over hard-working taxpayers.”
