Assemblymember Didi Barrett Statement on EPA Decision
June 1, 2017
“The Hudson River is the lifeline of this region; it connects us economically, culturally, and historically. This decision by the EPA highlights how the alarming policies coming out of Washington directly impact us here in the Hudson Valley. Scientific research tells us that PCBs remain in the river. If the EPA’s decision remains final our communities, residents and businesses will be dealing with a contaminated river for decades to come.
“It is important that local citizens take advantage of the comment period and voice their opinions on the EPA’s 5-year review. While the agency is currently allowing only 30 days for public comment, I urge them to expand that to 90 days to allow the public more time to review the study."
