Flood Reacts to Anti-Police Comments from Stony Brook University Professor
Assemblyman Ed Flood (R,C-Port Jefferson) voiced his outrage at the anti-police comments a Stony Brook professor made online following a dispute between two officers and a man threatening his roommate. The professor blamed Suffolk Police for “murdering” the man who attacked the roommate and stabbed both officers. Joining alongside the disapproval of the professor’s comments were Assemblyman Keith Brown (R,C-North Port), Assemblyman Doug Smith (R,C-Holbrook), Assemblyman Jarett Gandolfo (R,C-Sayville), Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C-Riverhead), Assemblyman Joe DeStefano (R,C-Medford), and Assemblyman Michael Durso (R,C-Massapequa Park).
“This type of behavior from Professor Anna Hayward sets the wrong example for her students, which only puts the men and women in uniform in more danger while performing their duties. My colleagues and I do not support any type of disrespect and Hayward should consider using her platform in the best interest of the university. I want to thank Stony Brook University for not condoning her inappropriate comments or allowing this to be brought into the classroom for further wrongdoing,” said Flood.
