Flood Joins Assembly Minority to Combat Campus Antisemitism
Assemblyman Ed Flood (R.C-Port Jefferson) is joining his colleagues in the Assembly Minority Conference to combat antisemitic activities on college campuses throughout the state. Since the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attacks there has been a nearly 400% rise in antisemitic acts with pro-Palestine protestors on college campuses including Columbia University, Stony Brook University, City College of New York (CUNY), New York University and several State University of New York (SUNY) campuses. The elected officials are demanding that tuition assistance awards not be given to students who knowingly engage in antisemitic activities in order to stop the protests and bring order back to college campuses.
“The acts of violence occurring on campuses throughout our state and nation are utterly repulsive,” said Flood. “Jewish students are being threatened, physically assaulted and protestors have barricaded the entrances so other students are unable to attend the classes they pay money toward. When will these students be held accountable? The protests are at some of the most elite schools in the nation, yet the students are acting out with violent, antisemitic behaviors with no consequences. University professors have turned their backs and allowed complete mayhem on their campuses. We have seen this in history books– we know right from wrong. This is wrong and it has gone on for too long. We can no longer turn our backs on innocent Jewish students.”
