Assemblyman Thiele, Long Island Blood Services, Center Moriches Elementary School to Hold Blood Drive

All Donors will receive a pair of METS tickets

Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor), Long Island Blood Services, and the Center Moriches Elementary School will be holding a blood drive in July:

Friday, July 5th
12 noon – 6:00 p.m.
At the Clayton Huey Elementary School
511 Main Street
Center Moriches, NY 11934
Donors do not need to make an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome. “Especially during the summer months, when donations are made infrequently but demand for blood remains high, it is very important that every eligible donor give the gift of life,” Assemblyman Thiele said. According to Long Island Blood Services:
  • Blood donors must be between the ages of 17 to 76, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and not have donated blood within the last 56 days. In New York State you can donate blood at age 16 with written parental consent. People age 76 and over can donate blood if they present a physicians letter.
  • One-third of us will have used blood or a blood product by the time we reach age 72.
  • Every day more than 2000 pints of blood are needed to serve nearly 200 hospitals in the NY/NJ area.
All donors will receive two (2) tickets to a New York Mets game, courtesy of the Long Island Blood Services. For more information contact Assemblyman Thiele’s District Office at (631) 537-2583.
