Thiele Announces Safe Routes to School Project for Springs School District Clears Major Hurdle

Project is part of proposed amendment to the state transportation improvement plan (TIP)

New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) today announced that the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) has agreed to amend the State Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) to include sidewalk and intersection improvements within the Spring Union Free School District. The proposed project, which would also include enhances safety education programming, would cost approximately $554,310.

The project would be funded by the federal Safe Routes to School program. The comment period on the proposed amendment to the TIP will end on August 2.
