Thiele Encourages Local Schools, Community Organization and Fathers to Participate in “Dads Take Your Child to School Day”, September 17th

New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) today encouraged local schools, community organizations and fathers to consider participating in the seventh year of “Dads Take Your Child to School” in New York State. The event this year is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17.

According to the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, the event has grown from just one participant school in 2006 to over 400 schools, Head Start programs, and community partners last year and included an estimated 4,150 fathers. Research indicates that children whose fathers take a more active role in their lives have better outcomes related to academics, behavior and social skills.

Schools and organization interested in sponsoring their own events may register at https://sites.google.com/site/dtyctsny/home for more information.
