Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. today announced that projected allocations to municipal governments under President Biden’s American Rescue Plan have been released. This $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill passed through the Senate on Saturday and will be sent back to the House of Representatives for consideration this week. Once passed, the legislation will be sent to President Biden for final approval.

Projected allocations for the 1st Assembly District are detailed below:

“The American Rescue Plan will provide vital relief to the East End and to local governments across the state. As the Chair of the Assembly Local Governments Committee, I have been calling on the federal government throughout the COVID-19 crisis to provide desperately needed relief to our municipalities,”

Assemblyman Thiele stated. “I thank our partners in the New York Congressional Delegation for their swift and meaningful action to assist our state, and look forward to continuing to work together as we begin to recover from the pandemic.”

Thiele added, “While this federal aid is necessary and will certainly help our municipalities in their ongoing fight against COVID-19, it is imperative that the state restore full AIM funding in the form of direct payments within the final SFY 2021-22 budget.”
