Assemblywoman Sillitti Calls on Community to Support Local Food Drives

Assemblywoman Gina Sillitti (D-Port Washington) has joined multiple organizations from across the community to help local food pantries with their supply needs during the holiday season.

“No person should face hunger, and this holiday season, I want to make sure my neighbors have all the food they need,” said Assemblywoman Sillitti. “Our food pantries have done a phenomenal job supporting those who need assistance, and it is in no small part due to the support of the community. When doing your shopping, if you can pick up one or two extra items and drop them at one of these events, it could make all the difference to our neighbors in need.”

Assemblywoman Sillitti specifically chose to work with organizations that are physically located across the district to ensure that anyone who wants to make a donation can do so at a convenient location near them. She encourages all who are able to support their local food pantries and help combat food insecurity. She also sent out a postcard sharing the locations of four local food drives:

  • Thursday, Dec. 9 at Our Lady of Fatima in Port Washington from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 12 at Sid Jacobson JCC in Greenvale from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Monday, Dec. 13 at Shelter Rock Church Food Pantry in Manhasset from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 14 at St. Aloysius Interfaith Food Pantry in Great Neck from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
