Ashby Introducing Legislation to Create $5,000 Tax Credit for Small Businesses for Upgrades to Prevent the Spread of Infectious Disease

Assemblyman Jake Ashby (R,C,I,Ref-Castleton) is introducing legislation that would establish a $5,000 small business tax credit to reimburse businesses who make facility upgrades for the purpose of preventing the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19.

“We need to get our small businesses back up and running as soon and as safely as possible,” said Ashby. “For this reason I have submitted legislation that would establish a $5,000 tax credit for businesses to offset the cost of upgrading their facility to ensure the safety of employees and patrons.”

Ashby noted that he has spoken to countless local businesses who have already undertaken projects to ensure no one is at risk within their facility. “Our local businesses have treated the COVID-19 pandemic and its accompanying restrictions with the utmost seriousness and remain committed to the health and safety of our community. This legislation would not only increase our community’s protection from infectious disease but also help get our businesses open and opened safely.”
