Assemblyman Aubry: Temporary Rules Change Ensures Assembly Can Continue Working During This Crisis

“Yesterday, my Assembly colleagues and I passed a resolution providing for temporary procedures during a declared state of emergency (E.854). During this public health crisis, it’s important to ensure that elected officials and critical staff can continue working to represent and protect their districts without putting themselves, their colleagues or their communities at risk. This resolution allows assemblymembers to continue doing the people’s work through electronic voting as well as provides a framework to explore the possibility of expedited voting and participating in the session via teleconferencing during extraordinary times.

“The change will help essential workers in the Capitol practice social distancing, while preserving the integrity of the legislative process during the current COVID-19 outbreak. I’ll continue doing everything I can to help protect the health and safety of our families during this difficult time.”
