Statement from Assemblymember Simon Requesting NYS Comptroller Divest from Tesla

Albany, NY –Today, 27 Assemblymembers sent a letter, linked here, to NYS Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli requesting the divestment of Tesla shares owned by the New York State pension fund. Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon released the following statement:

“Tesla’s financial instability and deeply troubling corporate governance pose an unacceptable risk to New York’s pension fund. The company’s stock plunged last month, and profits have plummeted, signaling an increasingly volatile and mismanaged company. CEO Elon Musk’s reckless actions leading DOGE have contributed to Tesla’s deteriorating reputation, and Tesla remains plagued by allegations of workplace discrimination, anti-union practices, and political spending secrecy. The writing is on the walls – it’s time for New York to divest from Tesla before more damage is done.”
