Giglio Concerned at Lack of Climate Action
Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C,I-Riverhead) has signed a letter to express concern about the effects pursuant to the permitting, siting and construction of major renewable energy projects in the state as part of its efforts to comply with Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) mandates. Major renewable projects should be under the jurisdiction of local government and saturation should be a consideration. Public Hearings, environmental reviews and transparency are necessary.
“These mandates are for the good of all New Yorkers and deserve a transparent and straightforward analysis,” Giglio said. “It’s abhorrent to think that such broad, sweeping and monumental changes will be enacted with little notice or communication to the people who will be affected. This impacts everyone. Do you use electricity? Do you use or rely on public transportation? Natural gas? This needs to be addressed so New Yorkers can be ready for what’s to come.”
