Giglio: Important Wedding Mandate Announcement
Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C,I-Riverhead), after two press conferences, first with caterers and ancillary businesses, and the second with Brides of Long Island, is pleased to announce a loosening of restrictions on wedding mandates. Recently, Giglio, alongside the Brides of Long Island, called for this removal of restrictions that were crippling Long Island’s wedding industry.
“Together, we finally made our voices heard in Albany and removed these unfair and frankly, ineffective restrictions on weddings,” Giglio said. “The Brides of Long Island and I have been incredibly vocal and outspoken their unified voices got the job done. I am so happy that we’re getting back on track; New York and Long Island deserve these restrictions removed. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication.”
The restriction changes are as follows:
- Now, effective May 19, you may have up to 375 people indoors with testing or proof of vaccine.
- As of June 15 this number increases to 500 with no testing.
- For weddings that are requiring testing, the curfew will be lifted effective May 17
- For weddings without testing, the curfew will be lifted effective May 31.
- Effective May 3, dancing squares will no longer be required. Social distancing and mask mandates will still be in effect.
- Also, effective May 3 capacity limits will follow the same numbers as catering halls, as long as the events are staffed by professional, licensed caterer, permitted by the respective locality or municipality and strictly adhere to all health and safety guidance. This will include social and event gathering limits, mask mandates and attendees must adhere by social distancing rules.
