Lemondes Applauds Onondaga County Decision to Prohibit Migrant Sheltering

A Statement from Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C-LaFayette)

“This influx of migrants has reached a critical mass here in New York and upstate counties simply do not have the resources to shelter and provide for this massive wave of undocumented individuals. The last thing we should be doing is diverting critical resources meant for the care of the local homeless population and those in dire need or using public schools to shelter migrants—all of which would pose a serious public safety risk to our students, other patrons and the general public. I applaud the decision by County Executive McMahon and look forward to working with local officials to find a humane solution that protects public safety and resources.”
