Lemondes Calls for Investigation into Cuomo Administration Following Bombshell Report

Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C,I-Lafayette) has called for an independent and thorough investigation into the Cuomo Administration following a report by the New York Post which tells us that the Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa confirmed to Majority legislators that the Cuomo Administration and state health department misreported nursing home deaths from COVID-19 in an attempt to circumvent a possible federal investigation. Lemondes knows many families are still hurting from the loss of their loved ones as a result of the governor’s incompetence and intends to hold the executive branch accountable for its lies.

“The unethical incompetence on display from the office of the governor is something that’s almost unfathomable,” Lemondes said. “This display of lies and deceit in an attempt to hold political power while punishing New Yorkers is more than I could have ever feared would have come out of this administration. Now, more than ever, the onus is on legislators, on both sides of the aisle, to allow an investigation of the highest intensity and greatest scrutiny to begin; my constituents know I will fight to make this happen.

Further details of the report from the New York Post show that Cuomo’s administration’s main concern was how revealingthese numbersput state Majority in an unfavorable position, rather than the fact that they lied to those who lost family in this pandemic. “It’s abhorrent that the leadership of this state is more concerned with political optics than the people he was supposedly elected to serve,” Lemondes said.
