Assemblyman Joe Giglio (R,C,I-Gowanda) today announced availability of School Bus Driver Safety Training Program funding for eligible school bus drivers and their instructors. The Education Management Services program provides eligible personnel with the latest techniques and information on safe pupil transportation.

"These grants will help ensure our children continue to receive safe transportation to and from school and school-related events," said Giglio. "Any time we can encourage and enhance school bus driver safety, we reiterate our commitment to having exceptional school districts with the best services available. I encourage all eligible groups to apply for this critical funding."

Public school districts, BOCES and nonprofit agencies are eligible and encouraged to apply for this funding, the lawmaker said.

Financial aid includes up to $400,000 for program development during the 2005-2006 school year. Awards will be granted during the upcoming school year.
