Giglio Pushes For Second Straight On-Time Budget

Assemblyman looking to build on last year’s success

Assemblyman Joe Giglio (R,C,I-Gowanda) today joined his Assembly minority colleagues in unveiling the 2006 “Budget Countdown Clock.” The Assembly minority conference called for additional meaningful state budget reforms as they activated the clock.

“It’s very encouraging to see the Legislature coming out so early, intent on passing another on-time state budget,” said Giglio. “I think anytime you set a clear goal for yourself, in this case a quality budget on April 1, you pave the way for success. I’m sure the pressure we exert now will result in a worthy budget.”

The digital clock used to display the countdown to last year’s first on-time state budget in 21 years resurfaced today as the Assembly minority conference again counts the days, hours and minutes to the April 1 deadline. Accompanying the clock is a new package of budget reforms designed to ensure an on-time budget again – not just this year, but every year.
