Giglio Reacts to State of the State Address

Governor Eliot Spitzer today delivered his first State of the State address focusing on government reform and a revitalization of the upstate economy. Assemblyman Joe Giglio (R,I,C-Gowanda) said he felt optimistic about the governor’s platform and is excited about the prospect of working along side Spitzer to eliminate government corruption.

“As a Deputy Inspector General, it was my job to weed out the fraud and corruption that exists in government,” said Giglio. “As a legislature, we need to do a better job of implementing measures to cut fraud and waste, thereby saving taxpayers millions of their own dollars. I am ready to join the governor in this initiative.”

“From an economic standpoint, I am pleased the governor has identified areas of need for Upstate New York,” said Giglio. “Since I took office, I have been calling for tax relief, job creation and a crackdown on fraud and waste. All of these areas must be addressed in order to revitalize upstate and I am eager to begin working with the governor and members of this legislature to make these goals a reality.”
