Assemblyman Keith Brown (R,C-Northport) is proud to announce the Commack Public Library, the Harborfields Public Library and the Northport Public Library, located in Suffolk County, have been chosen by the New York state Education Department and the New York state Library to receive state funding to help aid in much-needed construction and renovation projects. These libraries are just three of 197 statewide libraries to receive this financial support for the 2022-23 year.

The Commack Public Library is set to receive $12,543 in state funding to allow outdoor cameras to be replaced with enhanced and upgraded equipment and to allow the LED sign in front of the library to be replaced and upgraded. The Harborfields Public Library is set to receive $45,263 in state funding to upgrade the library's video surveillance system. And finally, the Northport Public Library is set to receive $83,250 in state funding to upgrade 20+-year-old drafty, leaking skylights with energy-efficient, reliable skylights with solar mitigation devices.

“The planned renovation projects for these libraries—some more extensive than others—simply would not have been possible without this state aid,” said Brown. “With this funding, new life will be breathed back into these libraries for the first time in years, and it will be exciting to see some of these upgrades in person. Libraries are vital educational places in the community that must be preserved and well-maintained so children and adults alike can continue to enjoy them for years to come.”
