Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski Seeks Bi-Partisan Effort to Address Recent Concerning Synthetic Marijuana Overdoses

“Amid the troubling increase of synthetic drug overdoses that we’ve seen throughout the State, especially the disturbing scene that took place in Brooklyn last week, I am re-doubling my efforts to ban these dangerous drugs and get them off our streets. The CDC has warned just how dangerous synthetic cannabinoids are, citing that they can be anywhere from 2 to 100 times more potent than marijuana; with a disproportionate amount of cases in New York State. The time to act is now. I have reached out to Majority Leader Senator Flanagan to request that our offices work together in reconciling our bills that look to criminalize these substances (A1910-B & S.2836-C). Although similar, they are not identical, and I believe that if we work together and come to an agreement on the legislation, we could finally criminalize these dangerous drugs.”
