Statement in Support of Extending Early Voting Hours

“With unprecedented voter turnout throughout Rockland County, the simple request to extend early voting hours by one hour per day was rejected by the Republican Elections Commissioner. We have voters sitting outside for hours in the cold and rain just to exercise their constitutional right to vote, yet the plan to expand voting hours has been turned down by one of the Elections Commissioners. I am requesting Governor Cuomo to immediately issue an executive order to provide for an additional hour of voting in Rockland County for the remainder of early voting. The Board of Elections has a legal obligation to ensure that voters have equitable and adequate access to early voting locations. Adding an additional hour will help alleviate the long lines and improve wait times.”
