Byrne Bids Farewell to 2022 Legislative Intern

Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,Ref-Mahopac) would like to extend his thanks and gratitude to his 2022 legislative intern, Tyler Lindner, who worked in his legislative office in Albany and was ultimately retained as a staffer during the final weeks of the legislative session. As Assemblyman Byrne’s Legislative Aide, Tyler performed her responsibilities remarkably and exceeded expectations on a regular basis. She met with constituents, advocacy groups, drafted circulation memos, researched local issues in the Assembly District, and communicated with legislative staff and government agencies from throughout the state.

Tyler Lindner is a rising junior at SUNY University at Albany, majoring in political science and has already been accepted into her school’s “Semester in Washington” program where she will intern on Capitol Hill during her senior year.

Tyler’s internship took place during a significant year of transition in New York State history. It was Kathy Hochul’s first year serving as governor and was filled with a hybrid of in-person and virtual meetings, as the world slowly started to transition back to a pre-COVID environment. Through it all, Tyler remained dedicated to serving the people of New York’s 94th Assembly District.

“This internship is single handedly the best academic opportunity I have pursued in college thus far,” said Tyler, “It allowed me to gain a full and nuanced understanding of the legislature and further affirmed that I ultimately want to pursue a career in public service. I am incredibly grateful for this experience, the skills it provided me with and the people I met along the way.”

While discussing her role in the office, Assemblyman Byrne said, “Tyler ended her internship having established herself as a diligent and talented member of our team. We all relied on Tyler to assist our daily operations and she always came through. She will be sorely missed and we wish her nothing but the best moving forward.”

The Albany Legislative Office Building internship is available through a program at SUNY Albany, but numerous other internship opportunities are also available in the district office in Brewster. College-aged youth interested in future internship opportunities are encouraged to send a cover letter and resume to our Assembly District Office at 3 Starr Ridge Rd., Suite 204, Brewster, NY 10509 or call at 845-278-2923. Our office will compile the information and transfer it to the succeeding Assemblymember at the appropriate time during a transition after the fall election.
