Somers Residents “Trailblaze with Byrne”

Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,Ref-Mahopac) completed his first “Trailblazing with Byrne” event of the year on Friday, August 19th at Westchester County’s Lasdon Park in the Town of Somers. Byrne met with constituents for an hour of Q & A before taking a healthy walk along the parks Trail of Honor, paying tribute to the region’s military heroes.

The discussion during the constituent forum included taxes and spending, public safety and emergency services, and legislation passed by Assemblyman Byrne to better recognize the sacrifices made by Atomic Veterans. Byrne and the local residents also spoke about policy issues concerning immigration, conservation and the growing list of challenges coming out of Albany including costly new mandates that make life more difficult for job creators and New Yorkers seeking gainful employment.

The event garnered participation from several local residents including Town of Somers Councilman William Faulkner.

“Thank you to everyone who participated in our first Trailblazing with Byrne event this year,” said Byrne. “Not only did we get the chance to discuss a wide variety of important issues, but we also got some fresh air, exercise and enjoyed the beautiful scenery in Lasdon Park. I look forward to continuing our walks throughout the end of this summer, and I thank our friends from Somers for giving me the tremendous opportunity to serve you in the Assembly these past six years.”

“Thank you Assemblyman Byrne for visiting us in Somers this morning,” said Councilman William Faulkner. “Your commitment to our town is always appreciated and we’re grateful for your support of our infrastructure, our freedoms, and efforts related to conservation. Our beloved Lasdon Park is an excellent asset for Somers and I’m glad we had the opportunity to highlight it.”

Despite this being Byrne’s final term in the Assembly, he has still scheduled “Trailblazing with Byrne” forums in each of the towns he represents to receive feedback and share updates with the residents he represents.
